Who we are
At the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC), we support young people, professionals and learners of any age and stage of life to connect with tertiary education and further study.
We provide a central application point for tertiary providers in Victoria, allowing students to apply to all their dream courses in one place. We also calculate and issue the ATAR to VCE students and provide a range of other admissions services across the country.
Our impact
Each year we support over 75,000 students from across Victoria, Australia and overseas to connect with tertiary education at over 45 Victorian institutions, including universities, TAFE institutes and independent tertiary colleges.
VTAC has proudly connected learners with Victorian tertiary institutions for over 60 years. Since our inception, we have assisted learners of all ages in achieving their study aspirations, professional growth, and dream careers. We continue to be a trusted hub of education, providing access to meaningful tertiary education pathways in Victoria.

Here at VTAC, we support young people, professionals and learners of any age and stage of life to connect with tertiary education and further study.

We are a central application point for undergraduate and selected postgraduate courses in Victoria, allowing applicants and institutions to navigate course preferences and offers with ease.
ATAR and scaling
We calculate and issue the ATAR for VCE students, ensuring a fair and consistent ranking system that supports informed admissions nationwide.
Equity schemes and scholarships
Our equity schemes and scholarships application assists in minimising barriers to further study for applicants through one centralised application.
Personalised support and resources
From our VTAC Connect team and online resources, to webinars and careers events, our team provides friendly and accurate guidance to assist applicants in making informed decisions.

Our partners
Each year, VTAC continues to develop our valuable partnerships with institutions in Victoria and across Australia to connect learners to tertiary education opportunities. Our partner institutions are listed here.
VTAC provides the trusted service for GEMSAS, the online application and matching system for domestic applicants delivered in partnership with GEMPASS Australia for graduate-entry medical schools across the country.
VTAC partners with Heads of Psychology Australia to provide the Psychology Reference Portal. This service enables applicants to obtain academic and professional references to support applications for postgraduate psychology study at 43 Australian higher education providers.
VTAC also provides a range of research, policy, data and advisory services to tertiary education providers, schools, careers services, professional organisations, government and employers. We partner with organisations and associations who share our commitment for innovation and supporting students from any background to reach their potential.
VTAC is a member of ACTAC, Australasian Conference of Tertiary Admission Centres, which provides national coordination of key admissions processes across Australia.
Our governance
VTAC is a not-for-profit, for purpose company funded through contributions from tertiary education providers, application processing fees paid by applicants, and income generated through a wide range of services.
As of 1 July 2023, VTAC is a company limited by guarantee, owned by the member tertiary institutions. Board Members include nominees from the nine Victorian universities and the Victorian state government. The Chair of the VTAC Ltd Board is Professor Theo Farrell, Vice-Chancellor of La Trobe University.
